Our Mission
At Coming Out Asian, we provide the tools, training, and support for LGBTQ+ Asians/AAPI to safely come out of the closet in order to live empowered, authentic, fulfilling lives.
Who We Are
John is from the United States and has a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, and many years of experience teaching and counseling. Mun Wye is from Singapore, has a PhD in Horticultural Sciences and has helped numerous friends through the coming out process.
We met and fell in love in 2014 and have been together since. The dynamics associated with Coming Out – to friends, family, society and in the workplace – have been prevalent throughout our relationship. As a cross-cultural couple, our story has been one of navigating the complex and often challenging waters of inter-cultural norms, world views, and the expectations so prevalent in Asian families and society. It has been a constant journey toward growing as individuals and as a couple, and this has inspired us to help others, in particular, those from Asian backgrounds who may be on different stages of the same journey.
We are happy to share our story, our knowledge, and our professional expertise with you as you move forward toward a life of authenticity and true self-empowerment.
